Bose is voluntarily recalling bass modules manufactured before April 1, 2006 that were sold with select Acoustimass, Lifestyle, and Companion home theater systems. Under certain conditions, electrical components within the bass module can fail, posing a fire hazard.
To determine if your bass module is impacted, follow the steps below. If your bass module is included in the recall, please stop using it and unplug it from the electrical outlet immediately.
Unplug your bass module from the electrical outlet. Turn your bass module so you can view the label. Find your product name and serial number on the label. The product name is located at the top of the label next to the Bose logo. The serial number is described as “SER. NO.” or “SERIAL NUMBER”. See examples below. Your label may look slightly different than these images.
If your product name is “ACOUSTIMASS 6 III HOME ENT. SYSTEM” or “ACOUSTIMASS 15 II HOME ENT. SYSTEM”, go to Step 4 below to determine if your bass module is included in the recall. If your product name is something different, open the product list via the button below and match the product name from your label to the product list.
If the product list indicates that your bass module is included in the recall, please go to Step 5 below for instructions on how to return it
If your product name is “ACOUSTIMASS 6 III HOME ENT. SYSTEM” or “ACOUSTIMASS 15 II HOME ENT. SYSTEM”, look at the serial number on your bass module (you can find your serial number as shown above in “Step 2”).
If you have determined that your bass module is included in the recall by following the steps above, stop using it immediately and do not plug it in or reconnect it to electrical power. Return your bass module and we’ll repair it free of charge. Alternatively, given the age of your product, you may elect to return your bass module in exchange for a 40% discount on a new Bose Soundbar, which is our newer all-in-one music and home theater sound solution.
