FAQs

Is the QC35 II Gaming Headset a gaming or lifestyle headset?

The QC35 II Gaming Headset is a new type of headset that combines the features users need for both gaming and lifestyle in one single device.

What is the difference between QuietComfort® 35 wireless headphones II and the QC35 II Gaming Headset?

The QC35 II Gaming Headset offers the same combination of world-class noise cancellation, acclaimed lifelike sound and built-in dual-mic system as the QC35 headphones II. The main difference is that the QC35 II Gaming Headset has a removable gaming module, which adds a boom mic, mic mute and comes with a PC desktop controller for volume control and mic monitoring.

Is the QC35 II Gaming Headset wired or wireless?

In lifestyle mode, the QC35 II Gaming Headset works like standard QC35 headphones II and can be used wirelessly via Bluetooth. When you attach the gaming module, the QC35 II Gaming Headset will utilise the built-in aux cable for low-latency gaming.

Why is the QC35 II Gaming Headset wired for gaming?

This was done to provide the lowest latency possible. In addition, because this headset is wired for gaming, you can keep playing when the battery is empty. If this runs out mid-game, you will continue to hear game audio without noise cancellation.

How do I remove the boom mic of the QC35 II Gaming Headset?

Pinch the clip by the ear cushion using your forefinger and thumb. Wiggle slightly while gently pulling straight down.

Can I purchase the Boom Mic Assembly and QC35 II Gaming Headset Controller separately?

No, not at this time. We developed this headset specifically for gamers and focused on giving them the best experience possible. We recognise the interest for these accessories from existing QC35 II owners. We welcome your feedback and will consider making these accessories available in the future.

Does Bluetooth work when the QC35 II Gaming Headset is in gaming mode?

No, plugging the aux cable into the QC35 II Gaming Headset disables Bluetooth.

Do I have to turn on noise cancellation when gaming?

No, you don’t have to, but it is strongly recommended as it heightens the experience. For most gamers, noise cancellation is a new feature and our tests have shown that they were blown away by how much more they could hear from their game.

Do I have to do anything to set up the PC desktop controller?

Your computer should automatically recognise the device and change the default audio devices. In case you’re not getting or sending audio, you should make sure you’ve selected the “Bose PC Desktop Controller” as the audio input and output device in your sound settings and in any chat apps you might be using like Discord and TeamSpeak.

What are Discord and TeamSpeak?

These are third-party chat apps used by gamers to communicate with their friends and teammates while playing.

How does the controller’s volume control work?

Rotate the top dial on the controller clockwise and counter-clockwise to turn the volume up and down. The controller can adjust the overall operating system volume, providing users with quick and easy access to control the volume of all their current apps.

What does the controller’s button do?

The button on the front of the controller next to the aux jack cycles through four levels of mic monitoring—off, low, medium and high. Users can also press and hold the button to quickly turn off mic monitoring at any time.

What is mic monitoring?

Mic monitoring is a feature that lets you hear the audio stream into your microphone so you can self-regulate the level of your voice. Without this feature, gamers have a tendency of speaking too loudly which can make the experience uncomfortable for others.

What is Acoustic Noise Cancelling™ headphone technology?

Acoustic Noise Cancelling™ headphone technology is a method of reducing unwanted noise by electronically creating a signal that is the mirror image of the unwanted noise. Microphones in the earcups monitor noise at the user’s ear. The electronics in the QC35 II Gaming Headset instantly process the noise signal, and a precise equal and opposite signal (correction signal) is created. The noise and the correction signal nearly cancel each other, providing a clean, high-fidelity sound signal at the ear.

How is the total noise cancellation in the QC35 II Gaming Headset achieved?

The QC35 II Gaming Headset uses both active and passive noise reduction technologies. With microphones placed both inside and outside the earcups, the electronics system senses the sound in almost any environment and then measures, compares and reacts—instant by instant—to produce an opposing cancellation signal. The passive noise reduction is achieved by the combination of the acoustic design and materials chosen for the earcups and cushions.
